IRCTC Services - Book tickets Online or Call now to 138

Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)

Railway inquiry number (139), which offers basic service like PNR details, will continue. Initially, the service will be available in English and Hindi, and will be gradually extended to all regional languages.  It handles more than 8 lakh calls per day.

The new number (138) is likely to reduce the load off the existing rail enquiry number (139).  Rail passengers can have access to host of travel information - availability of accommodation, tatkal booking, train number and its name running between two destinations, concessions and cancellation rules - thanks to this premium service. Passengers can book the tickets through the IRCTC cash cards bought from IRCTC counters.

Calls on the new number, which aims to provide faster services to the passengers, can be made from all telecom operators

IRCTC is moving towards a multiple-number inquiry system that will ensure easy accessibility for passengers. It will ease passengers' woos during festive seasons and holidays when there is heavy traffic. It will also ensure hassle-free service when rail services and operations get disrupted like dense fog during winter that leads to congestion in the system.

How to get online medical consultation/healthcare

Introduction to Online Medical Consultation
Have you ever tried or seen people getting second opinion on small problems like body pains, headache for which normally people use over-thecounter medicines (e.g. Paracetamol, ibuprofen etc). In-case of minor-to-major surgical procedures, I'm sure we would be cautious enough to consult multiple doctors to confirm the need for surgical procedure and to find out alternative ways to avoid surgery (that would be last option people will go for).

Medline Consultation Coat - White, Size 58 - Model MDT10WHT58E
Just think how it would be if you can get the consultation/second opinion from specialist who sits in different geography and diagnosis your problem and recommends a different view point of your/someone problem which can be solved with a simple medication instead of surgical needs.

For e.g.
"If someone had seen three doctors in multiple places for the pain and was told he had a clot and needed surgery, Two experts from online consultation website doctor's panel - a cardiologist and an orthopaedic surgeon, neither of whom was based in the same geography - reviewed the patient case online after his test reports, including results of his ECG , stress test, and on the orthopedics's advice, an X-ray of his shoulder, on the website. The experts examines the reports and diagnosis as : a frozen shoulder".

Just think how useful this form of online consultation will be to get the second opinion for the above example?

Online Medical Consultation:
Some of the below sites which offer Medical consultation/provides some medical help:
http://www.mediangels.com/
http://www.healthcaremagic.com/
http://www.webhealthcentre.com/
http://www.webmd.com/
http://wacky5.com/
some sites also allows the user to register and store the medical profile in their sites (Storing the medical profile online is not recommended). Web MD (http://www.webmd.com/) is one website which I am aware of that helps you identify the problem based on your symptoms. Help you to get aware of the medicine such as what it is used for, various foms its available (liquid, tablets, etc), dosage, and side-effects.

How online medical consultation works?
Patient has to submit the query/detailed medical problem. These website will then assign the query to corresponding doctor (general or specialized based on the description of the problem). Doctor may provide the answers if they are simple or may request for more information(

How much it would cost to get online medical consultation/second opinion??
General queries: Rs.250 or $10 based on the doctors geographical presence
Detailed consultation: Rs. 500 or $100 where it would required detailed study of your medical reports
Doctors will also be available to give you second opinion on the medical consultation for which it would cost  Rs.150-500 (approx) based on the problem.

Closing comments: Online medical consultation is at very preliminary stage in India compared to US/UK. Most of the above listed websites have more number of registered users outside India only. With highly specialized doctors with good track record would be of great help through this online consultations, but without physical examination with doctor, the online consultation may not be helpful in some cases. At this stage, I would say we can take the second opinion from this online medical consultation websites and to get some answers to general medical related queries but not for the full fledged healthcare services.

Disclaimer: Online medical consultation is not to substitute for any existing form of healthcare delivery such as physical visits to doctors, examinations or hospitals and the above websites have elaborate disclaimers on this too.

Important Note: This article does not recommend any specific online medical consultation/healthcare sites. Main purpose of this article is to give insight on the online medical consultation as an option and to provide some information around online medical consultation from different online or print media.

PMP Certification

PMP Exam Prep, Sixth Edition: Rita's Course in a Book for Passing the PMP Exam

PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification from PMI Organization is well recognized for the project management personnels. There are several other project management certifications like PRINCE2, ITILv2 (more for IT infrastructure).

Prerequisites:
4500 hours of project management work.
35 hours of project management training.

Fees:
PMI Membership : $129 (recommended)
PMP Exam Fee (for members) : $405
PMP Exam Fee (for non-members): $555

Application Process:
Most of the people have several questions on filling the application
I'm not in to development and working only in support projects. How can I fill my experience?
I don't know how much time I spent on each process group areas?
In the whole project work that you are doing, your work will always falls in all or some of  the five process groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitor and control and Closing.

So you can categories the no.of hours for each process groups and fill in the hours based on percentages incase you are not sure about the exact no.of hours.

For e.g. *
Start Date: 01-Feb-2009
End Date: 19-Apr-2011
Total No. of Hours : 4616

This total no. of hours can be divided into certain percentage of effort that you have put in each process group and further divided into each item under each process.

Initiating: 10%
Planning: 30%
Executing: 20%
Monitor and Control: 30%
Closing: 10%

*Note: This example is for only illustration purpose. The hours and percentages may differ for each person and type of work.

Also you need to mention the person who can authenticate the details of the project that you are listing in the Application.  Have the contact details of the person ( the person can be your direct supervisor, manager, or stakeholder)

PMI Audit:
PMI can audit the details that you have listed in the application at any time so give only the legitimate details.

The PMP Exam: Flash Cards (Test Prep series)

Preparation:
PMP Certification preparation does take some time, but its not that bad as we think (including me). It took a month for me to prepare for the exam after a PMP training  from Progressive Ventures - Proventures (PMI R.E.P).

Here are few steps you can follow:
"My approach was to get brief first and then get into detail. So read one knowledge area at a time."
  • Start with the brief details first on each knowledge area so that you don't get too much at a time.
  • Take online exam to find the gaps.
  • Go through the PMBOK Latest Edition for the same knowledge area and try to get some answers to the gaps.
  • Certain Tools/techniques and terms may not very detailed in PMBOK, so use online resources like Google and Wikipedia (believe me there is lot of information available).
  • After detail reading, take practice test of 50-120 questions(specific to Knowledge Area) and try to analyze the incorrect answers.
  • Last day before the exam, you can try to do the exercise of listing down all project management processes associated with Process groups and knowledge areas.

Some Exam Tips:
  • You will get 15 minutes to get a feel of the online exam (how to use "Mark for review", and at the end to "Review all questions", "Review marked questions", "Review unanswered questions"). This will help at the end to review your questions and if you are short of time you can review only unanswered or marked for review questions directly.
  • In exam you get in-built calculator for any doing calculations.
  • Key is not to spend more time on each question instead you can mark it for review and can review later.
  • Some questions, we get almost all answers are wrong except one  and for some two answers are correct. So in the later case, you have to use the judgement of what needs to be done first.

Aadukalam

Its being long time that I heard about a good commercial tamil movie(atleast its me). Lately I heard the songs of Aadukalam songs and they are simple and mesmerizing .. I liked Aayayo,  and Yogi B number.
Its strange that Directors build a whole movie based on the single liner story but with a very strong screenplay.

You can hear the songs online here...
