IRCTC Services - Book tickets Online or Call now to 138

Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)

Railway inquiry number (139), which offers basic service like PNR details, will continue. Initially, the service will be available in English and Hindi, and will be gradually extended to all regional languages.  It handles more than 8 lakh calls per day.

The new number (138) is likely to reduce the load off the existing rail enquiry number (139).  Rail passengers can have access to host of travel information - availability of accommodation, tatkal booking, train number and its name running between two destinations, concessions and cancellation rules - thanks to this premium service. Passengers can book the tickets through the IRCTC cash cards bought from IRCTC counters.

Calls on the new number, which aims to provide faster services to the passengers, can be made from all telecom operators

IRCTC is moving towards a multiple-number inquiry system that will ensure easy accessibility for passengers. It will ease passengers' woos during festive seasons and holidays when there is heavy traffic. It will also ensure hassle-free service when rail services and operations get disrupted like dense fog during winter that leads to congestion in the system.
